Over the past five years I’ve noticed time speeding up. At first I thought it was my imagination. Then I thought I just wasn’t being efficient enough with my time. Then I thought it was me slowing down as I got older. I kept blaming myself because I couldn’t get through all I wanted to do in a day.
But I hear it from so many people of all ages. We are rushing around struggling to get it all done, believing that eventually we’ll get it all done and then we can relax.
Let’s face it folks. It will never be all done. So the time to relax is now.
Trick Question: Can You Relax on Vacation?
Yes, you need to ask yourself this question. Because, if you can’t, you know there’s something wrong.
Even on vacation, I would be struggling with the urge to check my email, to see if I could get a few things done before getting back to work. I was feeling torn because I saw vacation time as such a waste of time, when I could be doing all those things now, that I’m postponing, that are waiting for me when I get back.
Once I realized however, that I was never going to get it all done, I began to give myself permission to take time out, to relax. I’m not there yet, I still have to re-think the habit of work, so that I can feel good about myself, even when I can step out for a much needed rest.
This is still not an easy thing for me to do. I first had to stop beating myself up for taking time out. I am now looking at ways to save time. I don’t have to do all those things I thought were so important. I don’t have to spend an hour or more each day, getting ready in the mornings, blow drying my hair, applying makeup, getting myself to the point where I feel ready to face the world.
I don’t have to spend hours washing and drying clothes, cleaning the house, shopping – especially when I don’t like to be out in crowded malls, or waiting in long line-ups at cash registers. I figure I’ve been able to save at least a day a week by minimizing all these things. Now I’m feeling a bit less rushed.
But Why is Time Changing?
I remember in 2000 thinking, 2012 is more than a decade away. Well here we are, folks. Is life any better for you?
I’ve decided to measure my life in terms of my personal satisfaction with each day, instead of how much I have in my bank account at the end of the month.
I stopped watching television about 5 years ago. I just didn’t have the time then. And looking back on it, I don’t think I’ve missed anything. Now, I can’t watch what’s on TV anymore, it’s just not interesting. And juggling my schedule to catch something on Cable became more of a stress than it was worth. TV is going the way of the landline phone. It’s not necessary anymore.
I’ve also given up subscribing to newspapers. Anything I need to know is on Google news.
There’s more to choose from on the internet, blogs, YouTube, video on demand, whenever and whatever you want to watch. I’ve become pretty good at finding things I’m searching for.
I’ve also become more selective about what I choose to spend my time on, and I now follow only what interests me. I select what I want to see on the internet.
Now, for the first time in years, I’m starting to feel like my time is more under my own control.
And What’s Going on With the Weather and the Poles?
Mother earth is busy too. I like to call her by her first name: Gaia. She’s a living organism with awareness and the capacity to love. She’s responding to all the stuff that we are doing to her. She’s also responding to the Sun.
We all know the ice is melting at the North & South poles. Earthquakes are more frequent. Flooding is everywhere. It’s warm in the winter and cold in the summer. Recently I read that the Gulf Stream has stopped, and no one knows what the consequences are going to be.
The Earth’s magnetic poles are shifting, so much so, that airports are having to realign their runways because pilots are losing directional control and aircraft are being damaged. Tampa International Airport was shut down in Jan 2011. Runway markings and designations needed to be realigned with the current positions of the North & South poles on the compass, so the planes can approach and land safely using their instruments.
The True North magnetic pole is shifting toward Russia at the rate of 25 miles per year. New galactic grid lines are forming, which indicates that a new type of gravity wave is being born.
A Decade of Transformation
I’m reading it everywhere on the net – this theme of Transformation. It’s on a Global scale. I feel the urgency to slow down and become more aware of what is going on around me with the weather, politics, people, events in the news.
I’m now watching everything I do, to make sure I’m living in the moment, and not thinking about what I have to do next, while I’m still involved in doing something else. I’m synchronizing my mind to stay on track and follow what I’m presently doing.
Who’d ever believe you’d have to work at doing that? Time is now slowing down for me, and becoming a little more manageable. 🙂
